Faithdex Card and Bible Journaling

Bible Journaling is taking another new twist and this one is super fun, compact, cheap, and WAY less intimidating than painting in that beautiful Bible! What is it? Faithdex Cards!

A Little History

Back in the day there was this thing called a Rolodex. They were mainly used in the business world to keep up with contacts numbers and address. You know, before our phones did all of that for us! LOL.

They look something like this…

And you can actually still buy them! Though I doubt many people use them for their intended purpose anymore.

Memorydex Cards

Quite a few years ago a new thing came out where people were using this same type system but used them to make memory cards, using pictures and things of that nature. Heidi Swapp has tons of information on this. And it was a dream come true for paper crafters everywhere.

It is like scrapbooking in mini form!

Here are a few of her items….

What is a Faithdex Card?

Memorydex is to scrapbooking what faithdex cards are to Bible journaling!

It is that simple. It is another way to Bible journal but in a smaller and less intimidating way. It is totally no biggie if you mess up! You just trash the card and start over.

This gives you the freedom to try new things without fear of messing up your Bible.

The first is from a kit from Keys of the Kingdom Etsy Shop and the last on is a freebie from Creative Worship Bible Journaling on Facebook

The cards are usually made out of some type of thick paper or cardstock. You can get a die or you can make them yourself. (BTW I have a sweet little freebie for you at the end of this post!)

Essentially, they are just a 4×3 1/4 card. You can add a tab or not. You can add holes at the bottom for slide rails or not. You can put them in a box with rails or put them in a photo box. There is really no right or wrong way to do this!

And then you decorate to your heart’s content.

Here is what I love about these little cards.

  • First, while I am making my card, I am spending time with God.
  • Second, I am writing and meditating on Scripture
  • Third, I can take these cards out and post them around the house to help me memorize and meditate on Scripture even more!

It is a beautiful thing!

Are You Ready?

Are you ready to try out your own card?

I put together a little process video for a card that I made last week and wanted to share with you one way that you can decorate your card. I love using printables and Distress Ink! Oh, and of course washi tape!

Here is the video if you would like to check it out…

In this video I used…

Distress Ink in Shaded Lilac, Spun Sugar, and a little Picked Fence on top.

The printable is from Keys to the Kingdom and is called Colorful Praise, I printed it onto tissue paper. If you would like to know how to do that check out this post.

I would love to see your creations! Head on over to my Facebook group to share your images!

Blessings,

Amy

I think it’s a great idea. Especially the part of if you make a mistake you just throw it away and start over. So much harder to do that in a bible. I don’t think I’ll give up Bible Journaling, but I might try this too.

It does make things a bit easier in that respect, but I am with you, I can not give up Bible Journaling! I just love it way too much!! It has been a very fun new way to get in the word. And there are so many things that you could do with them! Thanks for stopping by!
