Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
I hope you’re all enjoying a wonderful day. My day has been quite busy yet enjoyable so far. This morning, I wanted to prepare something special for the boys for breakfast, which calls for some extra effort in the kitchen. As I’m not really a morning person, this can sometimes be a bit challenging. I rise at 5:30 to ensure I have time for coffee and some quiet moments with God before encountering anyone else—it’s essential for me! So, I made the boys (including the big one) some adorable heart-shaped “pop tarts.” They turned out delicious, so I thought I would share the recipe with you!

I came across this recipe years ago and unfortunately have lost the original location for it. Super sad.
But here is how I make them.
Ingredients:
For this recipe you will need a pie crust, heart shaped cookie cutter, jam or preserves, one egg, one tablespoon of water and sugar for sprinkling, or you can just get some Cream Cheese Icing to put on top like I did.
Here are the Heart Cookie Cutters that I grabbed. I liked that they had different sizes in there!
So, the first thing you are going to do is roll out your pie crust and cut out as many heart shapes as you can. This was a 9″ pie crust and with a 3″ cookie cutter I got 15 hearts. So based on that figure out how many you want to make and buy that many pie crusts.
After the first one I found that it was MUCH easier to take a small piece of parchment paper and work on top it. This made the heart much easier to move once I was done closing the edges.
Ok so take one of your hearts and place it on the parchment paper. Add about 2 teaspoons of jam to the middle and then put another heart on top. Fork the edges closed. Make sure they close up well, or your jam will leak out when you are cooking them. Then place them on a cookie sheet lined with more parchment paper.

Mix up your egg and water and brush each Tart with the mix. Then add a sprinkle of sugar. Place them in a 350 degree oven for 20-30 minutes, or until brown.
When I took them out, I added a little icing to the top, because let’s face it, the icing is the best part!
Have a blessed day!
Amy
