My Top Tips for Getting the Most out of an Online Bible Journaling Conference!

Have you ever signed up for one of those online Bible Journaling conferences only to be disappointed because you were not prepared and were not able to get the most out of the classes? Believe me, I have been there as well! Every year I sign up for the Bible Journaling Ministries FREE Bible Journaling Conference. And it is soooo hard to keep up with all of the amazing classes and printables. There are over 20 speakers this year, over the span of 3 days!

Well, this year…I am prepared! And I want to make you prepared with me! So here are my top tips for getting the most out of your next online Bible Journaling Conference!

Want to join me for this one? This year’s theme is Blessed and it is going to be amazing! Just click the link HERE and grab your FREE pass! You can also sign up for the paid pass if you want which will give you FOREVER access to the full conference.

Tip #1

Get started now! Do not wait. There is more to do to get ready than you think there is, and time gets away from us sooooo super-fast. Go to the website as soon as it is open to the public! What should you do when you get there?

  • Look around first. Get a feel for the site. Check out a few of the speakers and get a good look at their pages and how everything is laid out.
  • Next find the schedule for the classes. Note how many classes they are doing each day and what time they get started with the classes and how late they are playing.
  • Then really go through each of the classes. Read what they are going to be speaking about and what their project is going to be.
  • You are going to want to make a list of the classes that you definitely do not want to miss. That way if you are on limited time, you can make sure that you hit those ones that are most important to you.

Finally, it is time to start getting organized!

Tip #2

Print out and organize ALL printables. This is really important because you do not have much time during the classes and NO time in between them. Most of the speakers will have their stuff already prepped to save time, and you should do the same!

First, I went back to the website and found the list of the classes. On a scrap piece of paper, I wrote down the name of the speaker, the title of the class, the date and time, the project, and any supplies.

Here is a video showing you how I am organizing my printables for the classes this year…

Then I printed out the printable and paperclipped the information to the printable. Then did the same for the next class. I even created an information scrap for those who did not have a printable.

This way everything is all printed, placed in order and organized. But I suggest that you not stop here!

Here is how I got all of my printables organized.

The short version is that I am already starting to get everything cut out and put into zip bags. That way everything is all in one place and ready to go.

Here are the items that I use to get my printables organized.

Tip #3

Organize your space. Go ahead and make sure the space that you are going to be journaling in is clean and organized. Have the materials that you need for the first day already on the table and ready to go. At the end of the day, make sure that you clean everything up and get out the supplies needed for the next day. That way you are not rushing around before each class trying to find materials.

This will happen a little anyway for sessions that did not give a supply list, so where there are materials listed, having them ready will really help you!

Tip #4

Remember to plan out the rest of your life so that you can have as much time as possible to devote to the classes that you really want to be a part of. Some of these conferences are really about more than just crafting. You can learn and grow so much from each of the speakers. And it is a wonderful time of fellowship with others and with God. You want to make the most of it.

Some ideas…

  • Get a menu plan with some crock pot meals or something that leaves leftovers. Have a pizza or taco night, or even a fend for yourself night. Maybe the hubby can pick up something for dinner! Or even make sure to do the prep-work before it starts.
  • Make sure that needed chores are done before the conference starts. Things such as laundry and cleaning can be done a few days before the conference. Go grocery shopping before the conference starts so that everyone has their favorite snacks and good food.

Remember, if you miss a few classes, it is ok! This is why we made the list of the classes that we most wanted to get to see.

Tip #5

Focus! Really try to be present in the class that you are in so that you can get the most from the session. These teachers really want to share God with you and to help you to grow closer to Him.

Enjoy the process! There will be some new things presented. And maybe you do not get them at first. Make notes of things that you want to dig into a little more. That can be words said to process taught.

Tip #6

This one is especially important. We are all very different. Some of the speakers may not share the same doctrine as you. Do not just take their word for anything. Test everything by Scripture.

I think at times we may think that since someone is part of a Bible Journaling Conference that they have the same beliefs as you, or that their beliefs are even Biblical. We must always be on watch for things that do not line up with God’s word and walk away from those things.

I hope that this is a huge help to you as you head into your next online Bible Journaling conference.
